Selena Gomez Shares Her Goals Of ‘Being Happy and Having a Family’

Within an interview with Z100’s Elvis Duran Selena opened up about her goals in life.

“I love what I do,” she told Elvis Duran on his show yesterday (Oct. 13). “I can’t imagine doing anything else — but ultimately my goal is to be happy and have a family. That’s my life.”

Also she says she’s working on being taken seriously with her artistry as she just-released album Revival –something that’s still a challenge for the former child star. “I think people still think I’m 16,” she told Duran. “Which is fair, because sometimes I still look 16. But I think ultimately it’s [about] confidence, so I’ll start with that. Going into this album…I did executive produce it, so I had to come in with full control and you can hear it!”

Becoming famous at such a young age has kept Gomez a fixture in the limelight — as the singer/actress put it on the show, she and her Disney Channel cohort were “easy targets.”

“It’s like if I actually sit down with the grown-ups who are writing horrible things about me and say, ‘What were you doing at 16? What were you doing at 18? What were you doing at 21?’…” she said in the interview

Gomez also spoke about her membership in Taylor Swift’s exclusive #squad, which she says is a source of strength. “Especially now, they’re just constantly pinning women against other women — it’s really annoying,” Gomez told Duran. “So now I think it’s changing a little bit. You are kind of having a ‘squad’ and you’re able to look at other women and embrace them and love them and tell them how awesome they are. There’s just not enough of that!”
