Legendary musician Srdjan Brankovic from the band, AlogiA is the brainchild of the amazing side project known as Expedition Delta.
Their second self-titled release features vocals in English.
It is a well-arranged, very polished blend of progressive rock and metal influences featuring some fantastic melodic guitar and keyboard work flowing seamlessly from song to song like a stream of consciousness that pleases the ear from beginning to end.
The mastery is evident in the production, the sound and the attention to detail in every song.
The clean guitar, piano and keyboard intro to “The One Who Lives A Dream” is one of my favorite passages of all.
They remind me of so many bands from Iron Maiden to Helloween to Dream Theater but at the same time, they sound like none of the above… Their sound is unique to them alone.
On tracks like “Thanks For The Good Times”, you get the feeling that you’re listening to Stryper with Steve Vai on guitar… an odd combination, granted but this is a compliment because it combines the best of it all.
Expedition Delta seems to have the unheard of mix between progressive and commercial rock and metal down to a science.
Every track has the potential to be a radio hit, and yet every track has technical elements that have no business being in a mainstream rock or metal song.
I never heard anything like it, and probably won’t until I get a hold of another album by them.
It takes a lot for me to write a glowing review like this, but this is one of the best I’ve heard in quite some time.
I can’t say enough about the production, the mix, the musicianship…
I would highly recommend anyone who is a fan of prog rock/metal, rock, metal and anybody who loves music in general to pick this one up and give it a listen.
