Fifth Harmony member Lauren Jauregui, was stopped at a TSA checkpoint Tuesday night (Dec. 13) at Dulles Airport in Virginia, where 5H were scheduled to perform on Dec. 14, at the VEVO FunPopFun Festival.
TMZ originally reported law-enforcement officials telling them that Jauregui was subjected to a secondary search at the airport, and that police were notified and the singer was arrested after what appeared to be a bag of marijuana was found in her possession. However, Jauregui and 5H’s laywer Dina LaPolt has since issued a statement saying that the singer was not arrested or detained, but merely cited and “released on her own recognizance.”
The full statement from lawyer LaPolt:
Lauren Jauregui was not arrested and detained as reported, but simply given a citation for possession of marijuana and released on her own recognizance. She will address the matter appropriately through the legal system. This will not interfere with any future scheduled performances or activities.
Earlier that week, Jauregui released her first song outside of 5H, a collaboration with Marian Hill called “Back to Me.”
