YG is gearing up to release a music video for his latest single “Pop It, Shake It.” In his perspective, the only way he can truly showcase the summertime vibe for the video is by going to the ultimate place to party , which undoubtedly is Miami. On Saturday (April 1), the Compton rapper chose Sunset Island as the location to shoot the music video.
At the shoot on Sunset Island, YG was greeted by every attendee, which included Partynextdoor, DJs and industry insiders at his pool party. The 4Hunnid crew popped bottles of Belaire champagne and Avion Tequila throughout the day and into the night. YG took off from a private dock on a jet ski before a luxurious yacht pulled up with more bottles and models.
With director DRE Films behind the lens, YG’s objective for the video was to showcase a rambunctious weekend. “It’s uncut and great,” YG told Billboard. “We got a lot of stuff going on in the video that doesn’t happen in a lot of other videos.”
After drying off from shooting his jet ski scenes, YG hit the backyard to toss more dollar bills in the air as a mob of women tried their best in a mechanical bull-riding contest.
“We got a lot of DJs out here from the East Coast, the South, Midwest, and West Side,” YG continued. “Ain’t nobody doing that type of stuff. Ain’t nobody flying DJs out to have a good time. We out here doing that. It’s bigger than the event or the video shoot. We got the DJs out here shooting the video with us. We got some pretty ladies out here, and we having a good time. That’s what we wanted to make it about — having a good time.”
The party didn’t stop at the mansion. YG and his crew hit up all the major clubs in Miami Beach from Rockwell to LIV on Sunday (April 2) to finish the shoot. A release date for the video has not been revealed.
